Cllr Campbell, a member of Newtownabbey Borough Council representing the Antrim Line area, said: “This is a bit of good news at a time of economic gloom and a slump in the housing market. This move is particularly welcome for those seeking starter homes and comes after an earlier assessment by the Northern Ireland Housing Co-ownership Association that it did not have the funds to keep up with demand.
“Taken in conjunction with the exemption up to £175,000 for stamp duty, many more will be able to get a foothold on the property ladder.”
