Hendron worried at third attack in Ormeau area

Local Alliance Belfast Councillor Maire Hendron has expressed her worry at a third attack in less than two days in the Ormeau area last night. On Tuesday evening a man and a woman was attacked in his house by six people. This attack follows a petrol bomb attack on a house on Tuesday morning and the burglary of an elderly woman on Monday night. All the attacks happened in the same area.

Cllr Maire Hendron said: “I am extremely worried by this attack. This now brings the number of attacks in this area to three in two days.

“I am concerned that all these crimes have been violent attacks on people’s homes. Everybody expects to be safe and secure in their own homes, but these attacks have broken that sanctity.

“I called for police to increase patrols in the area after the second violent attack, but now that there has been a third the police must now focus on this area.

“I would urge anybody with any information about any of these attacks to contact the police. Hopefully by arresting those behind all these attacks, the police will be able to prevent any more attacks.”
