Hendron appeals for vigilance following bogus caller robbery in East Belfast

Castlereagh Alliance Councillor Maíre Hendron has blasted the perpetrator of a bogus caller robbery in East Belfast last night. A man claiming to be from the Housing Executive, stated he was at the house in Hillsborough Drive to fit safety equipment – he stayed for 20 minutes and left in the direction of the Castlereagh Road after stealing cash from a wallet in the house.

Cllr Maíre Hendron said: “I am shocked and disgusted to here about this bogus caller robbery. This is an extremely disturbing development and I would appeal to people in the area to be vigilant against the threat of bogus callers.

“Such individuals often target the most vulnerable people in our society, and their action have absolutely no place in this society.

“This incident must have been disturbing for the resident of the house, because the robber actually stayed in the house for quite some time.

“I would appeal to those who might have information on this incident to contact police immediately and assist them in catching this bogus caller.”
