Cllr Máire Hendron said: “I spoke with the manager of the store on Saturday afternoon and it would appear that the Post Office robbery was a well planned job. Of course it now means a lot of inconvenience for local residents who now have to travel to various parts of East Belfast for the services of the Post Office.
“On Friday night a man entered the supermarket posing as a customer and when the coast was clear held the cashier at knife point and got away with a sum of money. These robberies must be roundly condemned and I hope that the PSNI can track down the thieves so they can be severely dealt with. The Post Office robbery appeared well prepared in advance and the fact that knives were carried demonstrated a chilling level of malice.”
