Paddy McGowan stated: “We have had excellent feedback from local people while distributing leaflets in the area. On the doorsteps we are consistently hearing that people want someone who is strong on justice and the rule of law. People have been impressed by the credentials of Barney Fitzpatrick, as he is a retire Police Chief Superintendent.
“In my capacity as an Alliance Party activist, I have received many phone calls from people who are members of other political parties in the area, pledging their support to Barney Fitzpatrick.
“Barney was the runner-up in the full council election in Skerries last year and should have been co-opted onto the council in the first place.
“The fact that the UUP forced an unnecessary by-election, and in doing so has cost local taxpayers up to £15,000, has not impressed local people.”
“The people of Skerries have the chance to send out a strong message on polling day and return the candidate they believe will best serve everyone in the area.”
