Ford works with Lord Morrow to improve Human Trafficking Bill

Alliance Leader and Justice Minister, David Ford, has said that there is 100% agreement between himself and Lord Morrow on the need to fight human trafficking. He was speaking during the Consideration Stage of the Human Trafficking Bill, in which David Ford and Lord Morrow co-signed a large number of amendments.

David Ford MLA said: “There is 100% agreement between Lord Morrow and myself, on the need to tackle the issue of human trafficking. This is highlighted by the unprecedented number of amendments that we have jointly submitted. I would like to commend him for his positive and constructive engagement with the Department of Justice.

“While the main focus of the media has been on clause 6, this Bill goes much further than one clause. When this Bill becomes law, we will have more effective mechanisms in the fight against human trafficking.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Lord Morrow’s team and the officials in the Department of Justice who have worked constructively together on this Bill.”
