Stewart Dickson MLA said: “The UUP and the DUP don’t get to decide the designation of candidates the electorate get to vote for – that is not how democracy works. Tribal pacts do nothing but deepen the divisions that already exist in our society.
“It also seems strange that the UUP would want to unite with the DUP at all. After Listening to Mike Nesbitt address his annual Party Conference it is clear he does not hold the DUP in high regard – signalling his only motivation is increasing his own Party’s electoral chances, rather than securing a better future for Northern Ireland.”
