Ford welcomes A26 improvements

Alliance MLA David Ford has welcomed proposals from the Department for Infrastructure to improve a number of junctions on the A26 between Antrim and Ballymena.

The news came after Mr Ford questioned the Minister Chris Hazzard in the Assembly. Mr Ford highlighted concerns about road safety in Tannaghmore and Creavery, after the Minister told Robin Swann MLA about proposals for Woodgreen and Cromkill.

David Ford said: “I am pleased the Minister has recognised that these are problems for drivers leaving the Creavery Road or tuning right into Creavery Road, as the sight lines are poor. I await with interest the Department’s proposals to improve safety for both local people and others travelling along the A26.

“The Minister also acknowledged a small number of collisions in recent years in Tannaghmore. The ‘left-then-right’ turn across the dual carriageway for anyone going between Kells and Randalstown has become increasingly difficult as traffic has increased in recent years. I believe this needs to be kept under review.”
