David Ford said: “We are raising a number of challenges facing policing, including the needs of police as regards resourcing and equipment. We will be raising the issue of reports which suggest that security forces have been placed on heightened alert following intelligence regarding dissident activity.
“We also plan to discuss Matt Baggott’s views in relation to providing strong community policing for people in Northern Ireland.
“The magnitude of these challenges underline the need for a strong and coherent policy programme to be agreed ahead of the devolution of policing and justice. No matter from which party the Minister comes from, they need to know that they have a programme of work which will not be hindered or vetoed by any party.”
