It is understood Darren Rodgers (24) was on his own when he fell eight metres onto a rocky beach after the Northern Ireland match in the French city on Sunday.
David Ford MLA said: “I am deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of Darren Rodgers in Nice.
“My thoughts are with his family and friends as they come to terms with their loss.
“This will have also been a shock for all those fans waking up in Nice today, casting a sad shadow over what has been a positive experience so far.”
