Cllr Barney Fitzpatrick said: “I was deeply saddened to hear that Simon Andrews had died from the injuries he sustained in a crash at the North West 200. I would like to extend my condolences and sympathies to his family and friends.
“His tragic death has reminded us of the dangers that these motorcyclists face every time they take part in these races.
“I hope that the race organisers will look to see what further action can be taken to improve safety at the North West 200.”
