Farry outraged at dissident attempt on soldier

Alliance North Down MLA Stephen Farry has expressed his outrage towards those behind an attempted car bombing of a serving soldier on Wednesday morning. The soldier noticed the unexploded device underneath his car as he was about to leave his house. It is believed that the device fell off the car, it was later destroyed in a controlled explosion by the army.

Stephen Farry MLA said: “I am shocked and angry that these dissidents have attempted to take the life of this man. This was a callous attempt that was intended to cause death and injury.

“We must not let these people wreck the peace process, the public does not want Northern Ireland to be dragged back into the terrible days of the Troubles.

“I would urge anybody with any information about this car bomb to contact the police.”
