Stephen Farry MLA said: “We could easily be talking this morning about the murder of three police officers. The whole community will want to stress their solidarity to those who are working on the frontline to keep this society safe.
“It was inevitable that dissident Republicans would seek to exploit this summer. It is important that political and community leaders unite to frustrate them.
“Riots are not in the interest of anyone, neither the local communities directly affected nor the image of Northern Ireland.
“I hope all the officers who sustained injuries during the trouble make speedy recoveries.
“I would urge anybody with any information about these incidents to contact the police.”
