Councillor Neil Kelly said: “This is a vote of confidence in Belfast International Airport and the Northern Ireland economy. Any improvement to our transport links can help make it easier to attract investors to Northern Ireland. The routes to London are very lucrative, so it is good to see an increase in these flights.
“With an increase in flights to Belfast, there should be a subsequent boost for the economy and the Antrim area with an increase in tourist numbers.
“Any increase in passenger numbers also gives further weight to the argument of improving the rail link to the airport.”
