North Antrim Alliance representative Jayne Dunlop has expressed her shock after a hitch hiker assaulted a woman who had given him a lift at midnight on Friday [28th], causing her car to crash.
The former Party Chairwoman stated: “This type of incident is shocking. There will be some unease that someone kind enough to pick up a hitch hiker could be attacked in this way in rural North Antrim.
“One of the delights of living in Northern Ireland for many people is the friendly and peaceful countryside. This kind of incident brings home quite worryingly how careful we all have to be.”
