Alliance West Tyrone Westminster candidate Stephen Donnelly has condemned those behind a bomb which was found following searches in Strabane.
Three men were arrested following homes being evacuated in the Drumrallagh area of the town. Police discovered a viable explosive device, which was made safe and the alert ended around 5pm. Police said the searches were in “response to violent dissident republican activity”.
“Someone could have been seriously injured or even killed by this viable device,” said Mr Donnelly.
“The people behind this represent no-one – they have no support and no regard for anyone who may have been injured or even worse by this device. People in West Tyrone and further afield do not want to see this terrible echo of the past.
“If anyone has information in relation to this incident, I urge them to contact the police immediately.”
