ALLIANCE South Antrim Assembly member David Ford has said that those who daubed paramilitary slogans onto a Glengormley church are destined to failure if their aim is to destroy community relations.
Condemning the incident, during which UYM (Ulster Young Militants) was painted on St Mary’s on the Hill, Mr Ford said: “Attacks on churches are not brave acts, but the acts of cowards who have nothing better to contribute to society. After previous attacks on both Catholic and Protestant churches in the area, the community rallied together.
“If these vandals think that by sticking their sectarian scrawls on churches will destroy community relations, they are much mistaken.
“After its internal feud, the UDA claimed it would disband the UYM. It is long past time that this happened.”
