Stewart Dickson MLA said: “The Justice Minister is delivering radical transformation within our prison service. The changes he is making cannot be simply achieved overnight, but it is clear that steady and quite remarkable change is happening.
“I am pleased at what has been achieved so far, and encouraged that we should see half of the recommendations achieved by Christmas.
“Measures to combat the problem of illegal drugs, the development of effective learning and skills programmes, and creative approaches to the needs of women prisoners reflect a new focus on making our prisons more effective and our communities safer.
