The funding will be used to set up projects over a five year period by the Causeway Coast and Glens Heritage Trust. The projects will support landowners with habitat surveys, increase wildlife and develop long term management plans.
Stewart Dickson MLA said: “The Glens of Antrim have some of Northern Ireland’s most picturesque landscapes. Therefore, we must ensure they are properly protected and preserved for future generations.
“I am very pleased that this investment will enable a number of projects to take place throughout the Glens to ensure there is proper management of our natural heritage and will encourage the public to take an active role in the protection of one of our most valuable assets.
“I hope this money will not just protect these areas but actually allow them to flourish.”
