Dickson supports Age NI ‘Spread the warmth’ campaign

Alliance East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson donned his silliest hat to support Age NI’s Spread the warmth campaign, a campaign to improve winter for people in later life. Throughout February, Age NI is encouraging people across Northern Ireland to put on their hats in recognition of the challenges faced by many older people in winter.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “For many older people, winter is a time of loneliness, poverty and ill health. Some struggle to pay heating bills and cannot keep their houses warm enough. Moreover, winter does not offer as many opportunities to get out over the door and socialise, meaning there are some older people who do not see anyone for weeks. Age NI is trying to change that.

“As well as putting on your hat to raise awareness, Age NI is asking for a small donation of £2 to help keep an older person warm, well and in touch this winter. I would encourage people to get behind this campaign and donate. You can organise a group collection or donate individually. You can even donate by text.
