Dickson says decision to close all Northern Trust residential care homes is irrational

Alliance East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson has said the decision to close half of the nine residential care homes in the Northern Trust in the next three years and the rest eventually, is irrational and illogical.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “The decision that will eventually lead to the closure of all the residential care homes in the Northern Trust is irrational and illogical. It has always been clear that it has been their intention to force people into the private sector.

“This decision is creating great fear and confusion among the residents of these care homes and their families.

“While I welcome any move that helps people stay in their own home, there is still a need for the Trust to provide a residential care home service.”
