The MLA for East Antrim was joined by Alliance Party Leader David Ford, local Councillors and community representatives, adding he was ‘delighted’ to once again be offering a full service for constituents in the centre of Carrickfergus.
Stewart Dickson MLA said: “Last December my team and I were forced to relocate after my Carrickfergus office was destroyed by arson. We are delighted to be back in the heart of Carrickfergus offering a full constituency service.
“My staff team of Councillor Noel Williams and Councillor Gavin Norris were forced to work under a very real threat – which continues today – but ensured their focus stayed on individuals and their issues. I want to pay tribute to their hard work and determination.
“The attack on my office last December was an attack on democracy and today demonstrates Alliance will not be deterred from working to build a shared future for everyone in East Antrim. Democracy must prevail over the actions of those who rely on tribal politics. We cannot allow ourselves to be pulled back to the dark days of the past.
“Anyone set on this path must engage in the appropriate, democratic manner, so our society can move forward and the debate can turn to the economy, better education and health care, job creation and finding a lasting solution to dealing with the past.
“Perhaps most importantly, we are here to help people with the issues affecting them most. So it is absolutely fantastic to be ‘back in business’ in the centre of Carrickfergus and of course in Larne, where anyone can call in if they require assistance at 8 West Street, Carrickfergus, BT38 7AR or 97D Main Street Larne, BT40 1HJ or call us on 028 9335 0286.
David Ford added: “I was delighted to formally open Stewart’s renovated office and to see Alliance continue its proud record of service to the people of East Antrim. As well as representing East Antrim in the Assembly, he is a strong defender of key Alliance principles – the rule of law, shared society and politics for everyone.”
