Dickson: Lives could have been lost in Derry explosion

Alliance Justice spokesperson, Stewart Dickson MLA, has condemned those responsible for a bomb that exploded in a hotel in Derry/Londonderry on Thursday night. A masked man left the device at the reception of the Everglades Hotel. Guests and staff were evacuated, but it exploded when the army attempted to defuse the device, causing damage to the reception area.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “Lives could have been lost had this device exploded before guests and staff were evacuated. Those responsible are callous individuals who have no regard for the well-being of other people.

“The vast majority of the public are opposed to the actions of those responsible. People want to get on with their lives without the fear of bomb attacks.

“The perpetrators must be urgently apprehended by the Police, so I would urge anybody with any information about this bomb to contact the Police.”
