Stewart Dickson MLA said: “I was very pleased to have helped launch the ‘Here 2 Help’ app, which has been developed by local people who want to enhance accessibility to the range of services and support available to anyone in crisis. Often, people do not know where to turn in a crisis, despite the range of support services that are available.
“Whether one is struggling with bereavement, depression, relationship problems or another issue, ‘Here 2 Help’ provides quick and easy access to helplines for users to get support instantly, and also a wide range of links to reading materials that can help in a time of need.
“As a representative of East Antrim, I am particularly proud that this project has been driven forward by two of my constituents, Noel McKee and Jack Creighton, who identified a need in the community and stepped forward to do something about it.
“This is too important an issue for it not to be discussed. 53 years ago, a school friend of mine did not turn up for school one day, nothing was explained to us, yet it only became apparent later that he had committed suicide. Even though we are more open about discussing suicide today, this app could be a life saver.”
