Alliance East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson has condemned a burglary in his constituency in which a woman was tied to a bath.
The female, in her 50s, was robbed by three men at the property in the Paisley Road area of Carrickfergus on Saturday just before midnight. She had her wrists bound with cable ties and handcuffs, before being tied to the bath. The burglars stole a sum of cash and jewellery. The woman was left badly shaken.
“This was a shocking crime, made all the more sinister by the disturbing by the victim being tied to the bath,” said Mr Dickson.
“My thoughts are with her at this time and I hope she makes a full recovery from this awful experience. Clearly the men behind it are dangerous individuals who must be removed from the streets immediately before they carry out any other crimes.
“I would appeal to anyone with any information on this incident to contact police immediately.”
