Dickson asks who is leading the DUP – Peter Robinson, Jeffrey Donaldson, or the Twaddell protesters

Alliance Chief Whip, Stewart Dickson MLA, has asked who is leading the DUP after they appeared to give conflicting responses to the announcement of all-party talks. Peter Robinson said that the DUP would be silly not to go to the talks; however Jeffrey Donaldson said that the Secretary of State must first announce a commission of inquiry into parading in North Belfast.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “In response to the Secretary of State proposing all-party talks, Peter Robinson said that the DUP would be silly not to go into the talks. However, Jeffrey Donaldson has indicated that the DUP won’t take part in the talks unless the Secretary of State announces an inquiry into parading in North Belfast.

“Does that mean that Peter Robinson thinks that Jeffrey Donaldson is ‘silly’? Or does it mean that Jeffrey Donaldson is in charge of the DUP’s policy on the talks? Or does it actually show that the protesters at the Twaddell Camp, that is costing the PSNI £1million per month to police, are in the driving seat at DUP headquarters?”
