Dickson angered by attack on Police

Alliance Justice spokesperson, Stewart Dickson MLA, has expressed his outrage after a pipe bomb was thrown at a Police vehicle on the Crumlin Road at 12:50am on Tuesday morning. It did not explode but the area was evacuated for a number of hours while the Police and Army dealt with the device. Eight families were evacuated from their homes overnight.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “Those who threw this pipe bomb at a Police vehicle have no regard for the safety of our community. Somebody could have been killed or seriously injured had this device exploded.

“The vast majority of people will find this incident abhorrent. Those responsible want to drag Northern Ireland back to the dark days of the past.

“My thoughts go out to the eight families who were evacuated from their homes. This must have been a frightening experience for them.

“Community co-operation is key to successfully tracking down and apprehending those responsible, so I would urge anybody with any information about this attack to contact the PSNI.”
