Curran condemns attack on German business delegation

Alliance Councillor Catherine Curran has condemned an attack on a vehicle assigned to a German business delegation visiting Belfast.

The car was found burned out in Apsley Street, off Ormeau Avenue, close to the delegations hotel.

Councillor Catherine Curran said: “It is very disappointing to hear that foreign visitors to Belfast have been treated in such a way.

“The group from Germany were here to visit a Northern Ireland company who are at the forefront of their industry and it is unacceptable that this focus has been shifted by an act of violence.

“The G8 put Northern Ireland on the world stage, signalling we are open for business. However we cannot expect to reap the rewards if potential investors are subjected to treatment like this.

“I would appeal for anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
