Cllr Catherine Curran said: “I am absolutely appalled at this incident. This must have been a horrific ordeal and I hope the man who was injured makes a full and swift recovery.
“The fact that this happened in broad daylight in a residential area makes this attack all the more troubling. The community is deeply shocked at this callous and brutal act.
“It is deeply disturbing to think that something like this could happen and anyone with information on this incident should contact police immediately to help them with their investigation into it.”
