Newcastle Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke has warmly welcomed capital grant funding approval of £22,000 by Down District Council to Dundrum Cricket Club for the provision of a new purpose built storage facility. The funding was awarded under the community aid grants scheme to sports clubs. The new building when completed will be used to store cricket equipment. Approval was given at the Recreation and Community Services committee meeting on Monday 12th March.
Councillor Patrick Clarke stated: “I very much welcome the approval of £22,000 to Dundrum Cricket Club for the provision of a new purpose built storage facility to store cricket equipment.
“The new storage facility which will help to keep valuable cricket and sports equipment has been needed for some years. Dundrum Cricket Club has been badly in need of such a new storage facility, and the granting of £22,000 by Down District Council will help build this new storage facility.
“There is a large youth membership using the cricket facilities in Dundrum throughout the year and the club is used on a cross-community basis.
“The grant funding will allow Dundrum Cricket Club to develop and enhance their facilities and be able to keep their cricket equipment in a new secure purpose built storage facility which will be of great benefit.”
