Clarke congratulates former Dundrum GP on prestigious accolade

Alliance Party Councillor Patrick Clarke has warmly congratulated Dr. Kieran Walshe from Dundrum, on being honoured for his work improving the lives of those with diabetes.

The former Dundrum GP was recognised as one of the area’s top health professionals in diabetes and has received an honorary fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.

Councillor Patrick Clarke said: “I would like to congratulate Dr. Kieran Walshe on receiving an honorary fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in recognition of his three decades of work with diabetics.

“Dr. Kieran Walshe has dedicated most of his working life to improving the lives of those with diabetes and has worked tirelessly carrying out research in trialling blood sugar monitoring and insulin pumps.

“The former Dundrum GP has made a significant difference to the well-being and lives of those with diabetes through his work with diabetics locally and at Lagan Valley Hospital which has helped many people over the years.

“On a local level, Dr. Kieran Walshe has not only been a dedicated GP serving the local community for over 24 years, but he continues his work in the field of diabetes treatment putting patients first.”

“It is therefore very fitting that such a prestigious accolade has been presented from the Royal College of Physicians to Dr. Kieran Walshe for diabetes innovations in both primary and secondary care over the last 30 years.”
