City Council is to write to all schools in the Belfast area to warn them of the dangers of drug dealing at City Hall bus stops.
The move followed highlighting of the problem by East Belfast Alliance Councillor and Party Education Spokesperson, Naomi Long, with her proposal to write to the schools passed at last night’s City Council meeting.
Cllr Long said: “After receiving complaints from constituents a few weeks ago, I contacted the PSNI about drug dealing to school children waiting for buses at City Hall. I am pleased with the pro-active stance that the police have taken on the issue.
“I hope that this decision to write to all school principals will further raise awareness of the dangers to children and prevent dealers offering drugs to young people at City Hall in the future. I am delighted that the Council has agreed to this proposal, which I hope will reduce the impact that unscrupulous drug dealers can have on Belfast children.”
