The collision took place before 7am on Friday morning, involving a car and a motorcycle.
Councillor Tom Campbell said: “This is very sad news and my thoughts are with the victim and his family at this tragic time.
“I would urge all road users to exercise caution when on the road, especially in coming months as winter road conditions can be treacherous. One death on the road is too many.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward and speak to the PSNI immediately.”
