Cllr Tom Campbell said: “This is an exciting challenge at a time when the delivery of library services is changing to meet new technological developments.
“It is vitally important that we continue to encourage people, both young and old, to improve their literacy levels. Libraries right across Northern Ireland provide a range of services beyond simply loaning out books.
“The supply of information and knowledge, particularly in the areas where social deprivation is at a high level, is a hugely important task for the library service. As a member of the Board, I hope to encourage further services that improve the lives of the public.”
