Speaking after Minister Farry made the announcement on Monday afternoon, the Alliance Party’s South Belfast Westminster candidate added the move would help students plan their finances in advance, creating a more stable environment.
Councillor Paula Bradshaw said: “Concern around student finance has been a live issue for some time and one which students from Queen’s University have been in regular contact with me about.
“Through this consultation process, the Minister has signalled he will consider what payments would be acceptable in current budgetary constraints and I would encourage all student groups to get involved and make sure their voices are heard.”
