The attack happened at Glebe Avenue in the early hours of Monday morning, when three masked me entered the house and shot him.
Councillor Yvonne Boyle said: “This was a despicable attack and must be condemned. The whole community is in shock at such a cruel attack on a young boy.
“This type of behaviour cannot be allowed to continue and it is unbelievable that the victim was only 15-years-old. Causing harm to others is a completely unacceptable way to deal with any tensions in the community.
“My thoughts are with the victim and I hope he will make a full recovery and be able to overcome the injuries he sustained.
“This attack is not representative of the community at large and we must send a clear message it will not be tolerated. Anyone with information must come forward and contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
