Trevor Lunn said: “There can never be any excuse for burning flags, poppy wreaths or other items meant to cause offence. These actions are hate crimes and should be investigated by the PSNI.
“While I welcome the actions of the organisers of this bonfire in removing tyres and moving it to a safe location, they need to ensure any future bonfire is not used to create division and hurt in our community.”
