Blair says Orange Order must enter talks following Parade Commission ruling

Alliance North Belfast representative Cllr John Blair has said that the Orange Order must enter talks following the decision of the Parades Commission to prevent them from marching past the Ardoyne shops on Saturday. The Orange Order has applied to walk along this route for the next three Saturdays.

Cllr John Blair said: “The Orange Order have made their point in expressing their opposition to the Parades Commission determination, now is the time for them to enter talks. This is the only way a positive resolution will be found.

“Further protests will not accomplish their goals, it will only further heighten tensions in the area. There is no benefit to be achieved from continued protests. The Orange Order should withdraw these applications and instead concentrate on taking part in talks.

“The Parades Commission is the lawful body for the regulation of parades, and their determinations must be respected.”
