The crash happened on the Mallusk Road on Sunday morning.
Councillor John Blair said: “My thoughts and sympathies are with the victim and his extended family and friends at this time.
“As we start a new year we must all get serious about preventing deaths on our roads. 2014 saw a particularly high number of tragedies on our roads, with one death being one too many. I would urge all road users to remain vigilant and exercise caution as we continue into the New Year.”
