The viable device was discovered at Alliance Avenue on Tuesday afternoon and a controlled explosion was carried out.
Councillor John Blair, the Party’s north Belfast spokesperson, said: “This was a despicable act and I whole heartedly condemn those behind this device in north Belfast.
“Those behind this bomb have shown absolutely no regard for the residents within the community. As at stands 30 families faced the disruption of having to leave their homes for a time, however this could have played out a lot worse.
“The community will not be intimidated and those intent on causing division and destruction will not succeed. Incidents like this reinforce Alliance’s belief that the only way forward is to work together to build a shared future for everyone.
“I appeal for anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
