Blair calls for action following North Belfast attacks

Alliance North Belfast representative Councillor John Blair has condemned attacks on two homes on the Crumlin Road on Friday night that Police are treating as sectarian hate crimes. A brick was thrown through the window of a house before paint was thrown at another property. Racist graffiti was also daubed over a house in the Donegore Gardens area of West Belfast.

Cllr John Blair said: “There can be no justification for these attacks. We need to see action to combat these types of crimes and that includes the First and deputy First Ministers showing some leadership on this issue and implementing a genuine shared future strategy.

“My thoughts are with those whose homes were attacked. I know the vast majority of people in these areas would condemn these crimes. It is shocking that anybody would seek to carry out such attacks. People should be able to live in their own homes without the fear of being attacked.

“Those responsible must be apprehended by the Police, so I would urge anybody with any information about these incidents to contact the PSNI or Crimestoppers.”
