Alliance Councillor Sorcha Eastwood has said Apprenticeship Week 2020 provides an excellent opportunity for people to gain invaluable skills and experience.

Councillor Eastwood was speaking as events took place across Northern Ireland for the week, which runs until this Friday (February 7). She said it was a chance to help drive economic growth here.

“Apprenticeships are an excellent opportunity to earn and learn. Those taking part can get a foot on the employment ladder and earn money, whilst gaining invaluable skills and experience, which will stand them in good stead for future promotions and career development.

“Focusing on skills is a key lever we can use to drive forward our economic growth and making sure we have the people in the right place at the right time to maximise the potential for job creation in Northern Ireland.

“It is vital we establish and follow through on City Deals across the region, to make sure we build on the opportunities available. Apprenticeship Week 2020 is an important part of working towards that and I encourage as many people as possible to take part in it.”
