Alliance Upper Bann representatives condemn those behind Lurgan alert

Alliance Upper Bann representatives Sheila McQuaid and Harry Hamilton have condemned those responsible for a security alert near two schools in Lurgan after a suspicious object was found. Both schools and a number of residents have been evacuated.

Shelia McQuaid said: “The public has shown its opposition to those who wish to drag Northern Ireland back to the dark days of the Troubles.

“The people behind this security alert have no respect for the lives of other people. They are despicable individuals who have no place in our society.”

Harry Hamilton said: “These people have no support in the Northern Ireland today. Everybody else has signed up to the peace process, when will they get the message that violence is never the answer.”

“If anybody has any information about this alert then they must contact the police.”
