Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “This is absolutely tragic news and my thoughts are with both families as they try to come to terms with what has happened.
“You simply cannot begin to imagine how devastating this must be for the families. For parents to hear what has happened to their daughter on honeymoon, so far away from home, must have been unbearable. This was meant to be one of the most joyous times in anyone’s life and for this to happen is beyond belief.
“Michaela was a friendly and familiar face who was never far from her dad at any Tyrone matches. She will be very much missed and everyone in Tyrone and across Northern Ireland is in shock at present.”
