Michael McDonald said: “There is a real appetite for change in Northern Irish politics right now and Alliance is at the forefront of that change. I am delighted to have been selected as the party candidate for Mid Ulster and Cookstown. With all the economic uncertainty there need to be a move away from tribal politics to a positive politics that deliver for everyone.
“The real cost of division is demonstrated by segregated housing, schools, leisure facilities and community centres. The forthcoming election provides an opportunity to send out a clear message that as one, we are moving towards a shared, inclusive society. It’s a society I want my children and their children to be proud of.”
Michael continues: “Sadly, the tired politics of the past still continues to rear its ugly head. Talk of electoral pacts and tactical voting do nothing for the people of Mid Ulster who in these difficult times want grown up politics from grown up politicians. I am ready to deliver for the people of Cookstown and Mid Ulster.”
