The Alliance Party has selected Charlie McConaghy to contest the Coleraine Bann Ward for the Coleraine Council election. Also standing for Council are Barney Fitzpatrick in Skerries, Yvonne Boyle in Coleraine East and Graham Scobie in Coleraine Central.
Charlie McConaghy said: “In the next Council term, the Councillors will have to make decisions that will have a large impact on local people.
“We need to see innovative action taken to ensure that the local community does not suffer as a result of a decrease in services.
“Many people have been hit hard from the economic downturn, we must ensure that they are not further disadvantaged by large jumps in rates both for home owners and businesses.”

Biography of Charlie McConaghy
-Charlie McConaghy was born in Ballymoney and grew up in Portrush. He has one teenage daughter.
-For ten years Charlie was a roofing contractor and ran a family summer shop in Portrush.
-His interests include promoting road safety and he is a keen and active environmentalist. -He also fought for a pedestrian tunnel through the railway embankment at Dhu Varren thereby improving the safety of children moving to and from the local school. He is currently working to have the only available football pitch at Glenmanus upgraded to meet local demands.
-Over the last four years he has been involved in identifying and recording invertebrates at the White Rocks as part of a database to be published on the web.
