Elena Aceves Cully said: “Our beaches are an extremely important part of our landscape. For our tourism market to maximise its potential we need to protect our beaches and ensure they are clean. They can be the real jewel in the crown of our landscape and I am very proud to have been given this award.
“I hope this helps raise some awareness in relation to littering on our beaches. I would like to encourage people when using beaches to make an effort to keep hold of their rubbish until they find a bin to put items in.”
