Naomi Long MP said: “This violence is utterly destructive and needs to end before a life is lost. It is not fair that people living in the area are subjected to this kind of turmoil, when the vast majority just want to live their lives in peace.
“Those engaging in this rioting have no respect for the local community and nothing to offer but misery. There can never be any justification for this kind of violence.”
Chris Lyttle MLA said: “We have seen some positive stories coming from Northern Ireland in recent days with Rory McIroy’s victory and a large contract for Bombardier Aerospace; the people behind what we have witnessed tonight need to realise that they are hurting their local community.
“I would urge anybody with any information about this riot to contact the police.”
