Alliance Westminster candidate Patricia O’Lynn has asked the community to look out for neighbours after a burglary in Broughshane.
Councillor O’Lynn said: “Whoever was responsible for the burglary in Broughshane needs to be caught and put before the courts. It is totally unacceptable that this lady was left distressed after masked men entered her home and stole money.
“At any time of year burglary is a despicable crime, which seems to be worse during the dark nights. Fortunately, crime rates are actually lower than the fear of crime, so it is important that residents are reassured they are safe in their homes.
“I would ask the community to keep an eye out for your neighbours. Call on those who live alone, just to let them know you care. Showing a sense of community spirit can help to reduce crime rates and let people feel safe in their homes.
“If anyone has any information about this crime I would urge them to contact the police on the 101 number or anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
