Backing the campaign after securing funding for it last year, Emmet said he was ‘hopeful’ the event would soon be embedded in the city calendar, growing bigger and reaching more communities each year.
He added: “I’m delighted to once again be backing Ciclovia, an international festival of cycling that has a home in Belfast. Yet again it will give cycling enthusiasts everywhere, of all ages and abilities the freedom to enjoy the sport in a traffic-free city.
“This family friendly event was a huge success last year and will again encourage more and more people to leave their cars at home, come into our fantastic city and enjoy all that’s on offer.”
